Janet Garrett, 92, of Kerrville, TX died August 22, 2003 in a local hospital in Kerrville, Texas.Mrs. Garrett was born April 30th, 1911 in Lytton Springs, Texas. She attended Trinity University as a music major and played the organ for various churches in addition to teaching piano lessons to private students. She was married to Othello F. Garrett in 1932.Janet Garrett loved classical music, enjoyed reading, and was an avid genealogist and an active member of the Major James Kerr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. She established her eligibility for membership to the Colonial Dames and Magna Charta Dames. Through her extensive research, she was able to trace her family roots to George Washingtons lines and established ties to numerous patriots and American colonists. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Ingram. She was very grateful to Virginia Bronson, staff members of the Edgewater Care Center and Town House and the clergy and members of her church who visited and befriended her for many years.Mrs. Garrett was predeceased by Othello Garrett, her parents, John and Janie Dugger Harris, and her brother, John H. Harris. Survivors include her sister, Florence Van Sickle, nieces Janet Roper, Mary Parker, and nephews John Van Sickle and Gordon Van Sickle as well as 9 great nieces and nephews.
