Kerrville Janet Ruth Christian went home to be with the Lord, December 21, 2004 at 2:30 PM after a nine year courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Patterson Parker, her father, James Patterson, and her son, Ray Lawrence, Jr.She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Charles Christian of Hunt, Texas her brother, James Parker of York, PA her sister, Beverly Harrington of Schrewsbury, MA her daughter, Susan Cousino of Bristol, VT son, Terry Lee Lawrence of Fontana, CA daughter, Karen Lawrence of VA daughter, Betty Christian of Memphis TN, and son Timothy Christian of Redlands, CA. She had 10 grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren, scores of nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.Janet was born in Schrewsbury, MA on November 12, 1942. At the age of 18, she took on four stepchildren, who she raised and loved as her own. Ten years later, she took on the responsibility of two more, all of which remained her own children in her heart all of her days.Janet was a supervisor in a tomato canning plant at the age of 17, had her own tax preparation business for 8 years, and was very active in the Postal Service from which she retired with 20 years of service and the Postal Unions. She volunteered for meals on Wheels for 7 years, where she was loved by all she was highly active in her community, especially with the Kerrville Cancer Support Group. She was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Kerrville, TX.Janet was an amazing lady who was loved and who will be missed by many people both here and around the world.A Memorial Service dedicated to Janet, to be held by her children will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, all contributions may be sent to the Dietert Senior Center or Sid Peterson Hospice, where they will be greatly appreciated.
