James D. Wintonyk, 92, of Kerrville, Texas died Monday, March 21, 2005 at a local hospital.He was born January 15, 1913 on a farm near Stornoway, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Les and Paraska Wintonyk. Jim left the family farm when he was a young man and went to Toronto, Canada to find a better way to earn his living. He learned the trade of tool and die making. Due to a farm injury he was not accepted in the military, so during the war years he worked at Central Aircraft in London, Ontario. There he met and married Enid Jean Holland. As of December 4, 2004 they celebrated 61 years of marriage.In 1952 Jim transferred to the Chevrolet Plant in Tonawanda, near Buffalo, New York. They built a home on Grand Island, New York where they lived for 23 years. Upon his retirement in 1974 Jim and Jean moved to Kerrville, Texas.Jim was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Jean, and by several nieces and nephews. Jim enjoyed traveling and was a 35 year member of the Avion Travelcade Club. He was an avid fisherman and fished many lakes and rivers and both oceans of Canada and the USA.His cremated remains will be interred in St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church Cemetery, near his family farm in Calder Township, Saskatchewan, Canada.Memorial services with Masonic Rites will be 2:00PM, Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity.
