San Antonio Father James Frank Stone went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, September 7th, 2009, at the age of 87.
Jim was born April 23, 1922 in Taft, Texas.
Jim held a BA from Southern Methodist University, as well as a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology and did graduate work at the Episcopal Seminary of the SW in Austin, Texas. He served Methodist churches in Louisiana as well as Texas before becoming ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1969 and continuing on as a Rector in Texas, North Carolina, and Buena Vista, Colorado.
In 2000, Jim established the Anglican Church of the Savior under the Anglican Mission in America and he remained there until his retirement in 2003. However, the Lord wasnt through with Jim and so he began work on the staff at Zion Lutheran Church when he moved to Kerrville. He also did an interim ministry in Stonewall, Texas at Trinity Lutheran during this time.
A man who loved God, Jim was happiest when working in ministry. Sharing Christs word was when Father Jim was at his . He had compassion, wisdom and understanding for those God placed in his care.
Joann, his wife of thirtythree years passed away in March. He is survived by his daughters, Judy Culp and her husband Ronald of Kerrville, Elissa York and her husband Tom of Ingram, Texas, four grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren.
