James Duncan


James Preston Duncan, 85, of Center Point, Texas, entered into rest January 9, 2005, at the Kerrville Veterans Hospital. Mr. Duncan was born October 7, 1919, to Robert and Minnie Duncan in Mount Pleasant, Texas, where he was also raised. He graduated with a Bachelors degree from the University of Omaha. He married Mamie Kalil on June 30, 1941, in New Braunfels, Texas. He retired from the U.S. Air Force, having served in WWII. He also retired as a Supervisor in the Texas Department of Human Resources. In February, 1973, he and his wife moved to the Hill Country. He was an elder of the Church of Christ for many years, having served as an elder of the Church of Christ on Sidney Baker Street. He was a member of the Lions Club at Center Point. He loved to garden and read.He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mamie Kalil Duncan, 2 daughters, Patricia Anne Duncan Parrish and husband, Linden Joe, of Rockwall, Texas, and Betty Jean Duncan Coon and husband, Stanley Earl, of Euless, Texas, 4 grandchildren, Phillip Duncan Parrish and wife Mitzy, Timothy Linden Parrish and wife Mary Ann, Stephen Joseph Parrish and wife Kristy, and Lori Michelle Holdorf and husband Mark and 8 greatgrandchildren, Stanford, Jefferson, Bailee, Madison, Joey, Caroline, Alex and Grant.ation will be held 5:307:30 PM Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at the Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 13, 2005, at J.E. Foust Son Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas, with interment to follow in Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless, Texas. Viewing in Grapevine, Texas, will be 68:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday morning prior to funeral services at J.E. Foust Son Funeral Home.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
