Kerrville James Wayne Black, 71, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at a local care center to spend an eternity with his Lord and Savior. The Lord took a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather whose love never ended, and will be missed dearly by those he left behind knowing that they will all be joined together again in Heaven.Mr. Black was born in Tucson, Arizona to the late Howell and Ida Minnie Black on March 27, 1934. He graduated from Ft. Stockton High School in 1952, after which he served in the United States Navy as a Torpedo man on a submarine. He married his wife, Ida Mae Baker on October 31, 1956 in Ft. Stockton, Texas. James returned to school at the University of Texas in Austin where he earned a degree in Pharmacology in 1962. Mr. Black owned and operated the Apothecary Shop in Ft. Stockton for 30 years. He and his lovely wife moved to Kerrville, Texas in 1995 where he served as a Pharmacist at the Veterans Administration Hospital until his retirement in 2002.Mr. Black was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ft. Stockton, Texas since the age of 8 years old. Upon the move to Kerrville, his membership moved with him to the First Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas. He was a devoted Rotarian for 28 years, receiving perfect attendance for the entire time he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award Rotarian of the Year and Program of the Year award. Mr. Black was also a Master Mason with membership in the Ft. Stockton, Texas Lodge, and a Shriner.Surviving him are his loving family that include his wife, Ida Mae Black of Kerrville, TX daughters, Suzan Monk and husband Danny of Ft. Stockton, TX, Julie Cypert and husband Brett of Sweetwater, TX, Cindy Bacon and husband Bill of Harper, TX, and Jami Chavarria and husband Raul of Sonora, TX 10 grandchildren, 4 greatgrandchildren brothers, B. Paten Black of Clovis, NM, Bobby Black of San Angelo, TX sisters, Georgia Black of Ft. Stockton, TX, Betty Christall of Ft. Stockton, TX numerous cousins, and a host of many loving friends, neighbors, and his cherished church family.A visitation was held at Kerrville Funeral Home from 6 8 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2005. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, Kerrville, Texas with Dr. David McFadden officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville, Texas. Soninlaws and Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.In lieu of floral remembrances, contributions may be made in memory of James W.
