James Benge

James Carroll Benge, age 92, of Kerrville passed away Friday, July 12, 2002 at a local hospital. Mr. Benge was born January 6, 1910 to Houston T. and Cora Reeder Benge in Villa Grove, IL. Mr. Benge was a welder during WWII teaching ladies to weld at the air base in Galveston, Texas. During his time in Galveston, he rarely missed day fishing. He later became a mechanic in the diesel industry. After retiring, he moved to Kerrville where he enjoyed RVing. He was a member of the Camping Squares and traveled around the United States square dancing and camping. Mr. Benge was a former member of the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge.Mr. Benge is survived by his wife, Ruth of Kerrville, sisters Doris Ramseur and Virginia Dodge both of Victoria, Texas.A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel.On line tributes may be made by logging on to www.kerrvillefuneralhome.com.
