Kerrville Longtime Kerr County resident Jack Ray Keel, 69, passed away unexpectedly at his residence Friday September 21, 2007. Jacks eclectic life began in Taylor, Texas, February 21, 1938. After graduation from Taylor High school he served as a U.S. Army Medic in European based hospitals mostly in France, and later worked on the Alaskan pipeline as a welder and a general mechanic from Prudo Bay to the terminal in Valdez.Upon his marriage to Susan Patterson in November 1976, he settled in Ingram and began writing the Ingram Gardener column for the Ingram News. Later at their acreage in west Kerr County he experimented with reintroducing native plants to the area, and growing range plants for the purpose of stopping or controlling wild fires. Later he became fascinated with the care and uses of Honey Bees and honey products. Through his care and attention his bees survived various mite invasions as well as the Africanization process and drought. He was actively working with others toward the goal of mite resistant and genetic resistant African strain of honey bees.Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.He is survived by two sisters and one brother his former wife, Claude Breswalder their daughters, Marie Paul, and MarieJaqualine his present wife, Susan their daughter, Victoria Pearle Price 8 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and associates across the Hill Country. As per his wishes there will be no Memorial services and his cremation will be private. Anyone wishing to remember Jack is reqested to give to the charity of ones choice, andLet the good times roll, adieu.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
