Kerrville Jack Clark Gross passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005. He was born in Fredericksburg, Iowa on September 11, 1929. Jack was a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1957, served in the Korean War, and was later on the staff of Leatherneck magazine. After being honorably discharged, Jack returned to Iowa to continue his familys auction business for the next 21 years. He then moved his family to Harlingen, Texas in 1978 and became the public relations specialist and alumni or for the Marine Military Academy. Jack later served as the chairman of the Weslaco Chamber of Commerce. After retiring, he became a reporter for the Wilson County News in Floresville, Texas. Jack was an avid lover of horses, trained them in the art of dressage, and wrote a book on the subject. He is survived by his sons, Michael Gross of San Antonio wife, Denise Gross and Daniel Gross of Seattle partner, Brian Payne grandchildren, Paige Gross and Matthew Gross of San Antonio sisters Gaye Hoth of Minneapolis and Nancy Lee Methenitis of Lacey, Washington and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Military Academy, 320 Iwo Jima Boulevard, Harlingen, Texas 78550.The funeral service and interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 29, 2005, with full military honors.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
