KERRVILLE Iris Esther Dedeaux Hogan, 93, of Kerrville passed from this life on March 25, 2014 at Peterson Regional Medical Center. Iris was born in Gulf Port, Mississippi on June 17, 1920 to Leon and Caroline Lichtenstein Dedeaux.
Iris graduated from Balboa High School in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936. Iris spent the next forty years of her life in Panama where she worked for Quarantine and Immigration, later for the US Postal service, then retired as Finance Board Supervisor of Ft. Davis Post Office in the Canal Zone. While living in the Canal Zone, Iris enjoyed swimming, playing tennis, bowling, attending sporting events and vacationing to the U.S. with her children. While still in the Canal Zone, Iris met her second husband, Richard. They retired to Kerrville in 1975.
Iris was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed mysteries. She enjoyed bowling and traveled to state and national tournaments with her bowling league. She became very involved in the genealogy of both side of her family, making trips to Germany and France in her research, and was a member of the Genealogy Society. She was also a member of the Lioness Club in Kerrville. She was a parishioner at Notre Dame Catholic Church where she spent thirty years as a volunteer. She also volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul Society and raised African violets in her spare time. Iris was a member of the Panama Canal Society in Florida.
Iris is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hogan son, Paul Donald Richmond and brother, Leon Dedeaux
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include three daughters and two sons, Leslie Rogers Bill of Center Point, Lois Healan Charles of Deltona, FL, Ralph Richmond Patty of Dallas, Mary Chiles Lee of Fredericksburg, Michael Richmond Karen of Houston ten grandchildren three greatgrandsons brother, Louis Dedeaux of Pensacola, FL sister, Dorothy Pape of Monmouth, IL and a host of other relatives and friends.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00PM, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Kerrville Funeral Home with visitation to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30AM, Monday, March 31, 2014 at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Interment will be 2:30 PM, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
