Irene Clarita Carroon Harmon, 97, of Kerrville, Texas passed away peacefully on June 6, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Harmon was born January 3, 1908 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Charles and Clara Carroon. She married Ralph Mervin Harmon on November 23, 1935 in Shelbyville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1994. In 1960 she moved to Kerrville, Texas where she became active in the community. Her husband was employed at Mooney Aircraft, where she organized the Mooney Wives Club. She was also active in the American Cancer Society, the Womens Areo Club of Wichita, Kansas and Kerrville, and the Republican Party in Kerr County. She was very interested in Kerr County history, and worked as a docent at the Kerr County Historical Museum. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Parrish Council. She loved music and came from a very musical family where she learned to play the organ, piano, and the cello. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Lena C. Carroon.She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Harmon and wife Sue of Brooklyn, NY, and Kenneth N. Harmon and wife Cathy of Albuquerque, NM three daughters, Rita Ann Harmon of Comfort, Teresa Louise Harmon of San Antonio, and Judith Eileen Harmon of San Antonio, TX grandsons, Clifford M. Harmon of Seattle, WA, and Glen C. Harmon of Brooklyn, NY nephews, Rev. Dr. Robert Gerard Carron of Hartford, CT, and Chip Carroon of California, and niece, Kathy Murray of California. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30AM, Thursday, June 9, 2005 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Greg Nevlud officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. A Rosary will be held 6:00PM, Wednesday with visitation to follow at Kerrville Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to Notre Dame Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
