Kerrville Ida Haag Schlather, 95, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, in Parsons House in Kerrville, after a brief illness. Mrs. Schlather was born on June 1, 1911, to Henry and Louise Haag on the family ranch near Kendalia, Texas. She graduated from Boerne High School in 1929. She married James Garfield Schlather on Aug. 7, 1936 and lived 37 years in Dallas, Texas, where she was a devoted mother and was active in school and church work. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, and playing bridge. Mrs. Schlather loved her family, friends and church. She won friends wherever she went with her ready smile, winning personality, hospitality and love of games and social gatherings. Her husband preceded her in death as did all her siblings, one brother, Joe Haas and two sisters, Lillie Esser and Bertha Waters. She is survived by daughters, Mary Jo Powell, of Austin, and Lillian Barron, of Galveston a son, Steve Schlather and his wife, Nancy Flinchbaugh, Springfield, Ohio grandsons Robert and Jennifer Barron, of Denver, Colorado, Eric and Julie Powell, of New York City, Ethan and Elizabeth Powell, of Sugarland, Texas, Luke Schlather and Jacob Schlather, of Springfield, Ohio a granddaughter, Kirsten and Patrick Cohoon, of Houston, Texas and greatgrandchildren, Caroline and Katharine Powell of Sugarland, Texas, and James Barron Cohoon of Houston, Texas. The family wishes to thank the staff of Family Practice Associates, Parson House, and Peterson Hospice for their care. She was lovingly cared for by Maria Rosales, Viviana Gonzalez, Becky Afshari, and Amelia Aquero. ation will be Tuesday, August 8, 2006, 57 PM at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 9, 2006, 10 AM, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor David Chancellor officiating, with Interment at Jones Cemetery.
