KERRVILLE Ida quotCollenequot Frazier Morgan of Kerrville, TX returned home to her God on Friday, November 9, 2012 to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Collene was born in Raton, New Mexico on July 20, 1944 to Mattelene and Russell Frazier.
She spent her early life in and around Capulin, NM and graduated from the Des Moniess High School in New Mexico. She spent one year at Eastern New Mexico University on a scholarship and transferred to New Mexico State University where she met her husband to be, Thomas Morgan. They were married in Carlsbad, NM by the grooms uncle, Baptist minister, Dr. Sigmund Morgan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas son, Jeffery of Fort Lauderdale, FL brother, Kenyon of Cody, WY Wanette Hoskins of Kerrville, TX along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Collene was one of those other centered people who did many things that made the other person achieve more than they imagined they could. She loved people and never met a stranger. Even when she was taking chemotherapy and was physically weak she would talk with other patients and lift their spirits.
An American patriot, she founded the Conservative Lunch Bunch of Kerrville, and worked hard to provide conservative speakers to those in the community that were interested in the conservative values that were the basis of our country. She also founded the Kerrville Tea Party which was a huge success and resulted in the creation of tea parties in surrounding communities.
Collene was a member of the Western Hills Baptist Church. She was extremely proud of her Indian heritage and worked very hard to document her rights to being put on the roles of the Choctaw Nation which she accomplished. She worked hard for the Hill Country Youth Ranch. Her coworkers would ask her to decorate the windows because she had a flair for decorating. Her only complaint was that as soon as she finished, customers would buy everything in the window display.
She was a natural organizer and created a very successful Red Hat Club, which was enjoyed by many of the ladies in Kerrville.
She had a great sense of humor and loved to play practical jokes especially on her cousin Ricky. Christmas was always exciting because they would each try to outdo the other with gag gifts.
Collene was under the care of Peterson Hospice, and the family would like to thank Dr. Young and his staff for the loving and tender care they gave to her. The family would also like to thank Dr. Barrington and her staff at the Cancer Center for South Texas for the care they gave her. The family appreciates the expression of love and the generous gifts of time given by the church members to her during her illness.
and family are invited to join us in a Celebration of Collenes Life at 2 PM, Monday, November 12, 2012 in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Morrow officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville, TX.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations to your favorite charity in her memory would be appreciated. Her favorite charities were the Shrine Hospitals for Children and the Hill Country Youth Ranch. Any memorials to Peterson Hospice and the Cancer Center of South Texas would also be appreciated.
