San Antonio Hubert Ronald McCartor, quotMacquot 84, of Kerrville, passed away on November 19, 2010 at University Hospital with his wife and children at his side. Mac was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed.

Born in Shattuck, OK, he was the son of Martin and Pauline McCartor and had grown up on his familys farm.

He attended Texas Tech for 1 12 years and had left to volunteer for the US Army Air Force in 1944. A proud veteran of the US Air Force, he served his country for 24 years. After World War II, he was involved with Atomic Bomb Test, Projects Castle and Ivy in the Pacific. He spent 20 years in the Air Force Strategic Air Command, where he worked B36 maintenance for 9 years, and then B47s and B52s. Upon completion of a tour in Vietnan, Mac retired from the military in 1968 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He received many citations during his military career, among those were two Air Force Commendation Medals and one Bronze Star.

After his retirement, Mac moved to Perryton, TX and took over operations of the family farm for the next 27 years, with his brother, Myron McCartor. He served as President of the Ochiltree County Farm Bureau for 4 years.

In 1997, Mac retired from farming and moved to Kerrville.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Myron McCartor.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Fay McCartor his son and daughterinlaw, Gerry and LaQuetta McCartor his daughter and soninlaw, Susan and Anis Aziz 3 granddaughters, Amanda Pettigrew, Alexzandria quotAlliequot McCartor and IciaEmily McCartor 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He will be forever loved and remembered.

The family will receive visitors at Kerrville Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from 57PM.

Services will be held Friday, November 26, 2010 at Kerrville Funeral Home Main Chapel at 1PM with a committal service to follow at Garden of Memories with full military honors.
