KERRVILLE Howard Green, 91, of Kerrville, TX, passed from this life on April 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born on September 15, 1920 in Bloomington, IL to Harry and Ethel Briggs Green.

Howard served his country proudly as a 2nd class Gunnery Mate in the United States Navy. After marrying the love of his life, Ruth in Bloomington, IL on July 16, 1944, they made their home in Corpus Christi, TX where he embarked upon a career with Sun Tide Refinery ultimately Sun Oil Co.. He retired after almost 25 years of service. They moved to Kerrville in 1979 to start the next adventure in their lives, which included traveling throughout the country with their home on wheels.

He was an avid model quotSteam Railquot train enthusiast, he loved woodworking, and always had his beloved four legged buddy around, his Dachshund named quotPenny.quot

Howard was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church of Kerrville, Civil Air Patrol, Armed Guard Association, Elks Lodge of Kerrville and the Gem and Mineral Society. He and his wife were also members of the Holiday Ramblers of which they had served as officers.

Preceding him in death were his parents and wife, Ruth Green who passed in December of 2002.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his son, Richard Howard Mary Beth Green daughter, Deb Kelby Boultinghouse four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the caring individuals that so lovingly gave their attention to Howard. A special thank you goes to Maria Nelms, Joe Kennedy, and Elaine Gutierrez.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sanctuary of St. Peters Episcopal Church, Kerrville, TX 78028 with Fr. Tom Murray officiating on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, The Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas, PO Box 17736, San Antonio, TX 78217, or to the charity of ones choice.
