Herschell Murray, Age 92, of Dripping Springs, Texas, formerly of Lake Travis, Texas, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2013 after a brief battle against cancer.
Murray was born to Charles Lee and Learlee Davis Murray on April 8, 1922 in Waco, Texas. He joined the United States Navy on 052042 and served as Gunners Mate 3C in the Pacific Theater during World War II until his honorable discharge 12051945. He was an electrician at Alcoa in Rockdale, Texas and later in life, he operated Beacon Boat Dock later becoming the Austin Yacht Club and Hi Line Marina in the Hudson Bend area of Lake Travis for many years.

Murray is preceded in death by his parents Charles Lee and Learlee Davis Murray wife Ann Montgomery Murray brother Charles Willis Murray and daughterinlaw Sheri DuPuy Murray.
He is survived by his daughter and soninlaw Connie and Ray Whisenant of Austin, TX son and special friend John H. L. Meatball Murray and Carolyn Holden of Kingsland, TX sister Helon Murray Johnson of Greenville, TX grandsons and wives Brandt and Shana Whisenant of Austin, TX Shane and Janey Whisenant of Austin, TX great grandsons Chase Tyler and Jake Austin Whisenant of Austin, TX. As well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday evening, September 21, 2014 at Harrell Funeral Home, 100 Heritage Drive and Highway 290 West, Dripping Springs, TX 78620, 5124431366.
Graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday morning, September 22, 2014, at Teck Cemetery, RR 620, Austin, Lake Travis, Texas.
