Herman Brubaker

KERRVILLE - Herman Rayford Brubaker, 87, of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his home in Kerrville, Texas.

He was born March 24, 1928 in Brownwood, Texas to Herman Raymond Brubaker and Nina Mae Hardin Brubaker. He married Gwendolyn Marie Deeds on March 6, 1948, in Brownwood, Texas.

Mr. Brubaker worked in variety of jobs and retired from Pure Oil Company in west Texas, worked as a houseparent and Assistant Superintendent of Medina Children's Home in Medina, Texas, and later retired from Kerrville State Hospital in Kerrville. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather, as well as an uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was a member of the Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Raymond Brubaker and Nina Mae Hardin Brubaker; a sister, Wanda Bryan; and two daughters, Marla Celene Brubaker and Rae Lynn Brubaker Tennison.

Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years Gwendolyn Brubaker of Kerrville; sisters Darlene Smith (Don) of Blanket, and Peggy Chism (Billy), and brother Randy Brubaker of Brownwood; daughters Tara Brubaker of Center Point; Niki Spenrath (Keith) of Kerrville; foster son Ronnie Swaner (Anne) of Hearne; sister-in-law Tyleen Paige of Cherry Valley, California; grandchildren Keven Tennison of Belton; Chanda Holmes (William) of Selma; Brandon Spenrath of Austin; Cara Freeman (Bobby), Melinda Davis (Charles) and Emily Amason (Russell) all of the Hearne area; great grandchildren Chelcey Tennison and Justen Tennison of Belton; Aria Holmes of Selma; Drew, Holly, Lily, and Clay Freeman, and Sandon and Bryson Davis of Hearne; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation and viewing will be on Saturday, February 6. 2016, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Hwy., Kerrville, Texas, with a Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, to be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Kerrville Funeral Home.
