San Antonio Herbert Francis Grassly, Jr. Ret. Major of Kerrville, TX, formerly of Arlington, TX and Vernon Hills, IL passed away June 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m.

He will be interred at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery, IL. Herb was retired from Jewel Foods since 83 and enjoyed cooking and reading.

He was most proud of serving in WW II in Pattons Army and a CounterIntelligence officer for over 30 years with the U.S. Army Corp. He was a member of the Hill Country MOAA.

He was involved in the South Texas Chapter of ACICV, lifelong member of VFW and was honored for his 60 year membership with the Masonic Lodge.

Herb was predeceased by his grandson, Bradley Krueger.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Connie, children Paul, Robert, Suzanne Ann and Karen,: stepchildren, Ann and Leigh Grandchildren, Mackenzie, Michelle, Megan, Taylor, Ryan, Aubrey, Kayla, Sydney, Michael, and Stepgrandchildren Emma, Diana and David and Brother, Clifford Grassly.

A celebration of his life was held Monday afternoon, June 22, 2009 at 5:00PM at the Guadalupe RV Park Recreation Hall.
