Kerrville Colonel Henry W quotTexquot Ritter, born Feb 16, 1919 in Oakpark,
Illinois, to Henry and Julia Ritter, died in a local nursing home Tuesday, June 29, 2010.
After graduation from high school 1936, he spent several months in prewar Europe traveling by bicycle through the French countryside.
He returned to join the Army Air Corps. His initial training was in Texas and he then flew combat missions in the Pacific in attack bombers. He attained Aircraft Commander status in the A26, B29, B47, B52 and the SR71 for the Strategic Air Command. He served a term of duty in the Pentagon in Aircraft Accident Investigation before his retirement as Full Colonel.
He and his wife Marty and family retired to Guadalajara , Mexico for two years before returning to the San Antonio area and finally to Kerrville.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife Marty, daughter and sonin law Jennifer and John Barnett M.D., of Kerrville, and David Ritter and wife Pat, St Petersburg, Florida, step children Marta Koehne, David Mathis, Glen Mathis, and Sara Mastranunzio.
A memorial service will be held Saturday July 10, 2010 at 11:00am at the Kerrville Bible Church with full military honors.
The family suggests that memorial donations in his name be made to the Kerrville Bible Church or the charity of ones choice.
