KERRVILLE Henry Earl Halmon, 83, of Kerrville, passed from this life at Kerrville VA Hospital on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Born on March 15, 1930 in Santa Anna, TX, he was the son of Henry R. and Inez Close Halmon.

Graduating in the spring from Brownwood High School, in August 1946, he enlisted in the United States Air Force at Carswell AFB, TX. Climbing to the rank of Technical SGT, he was discharged in November 1952 at Parks Air Force Base, CA. after honorably serving his country during WW II and the Korean Conflict. Marrying the love of his life on November 28, 1953, he and Wanda shared 59 years together.

Earl had a colorful career and was CEO of Mateco Truck Equipment in Houston, TX before retiring to Kerrville, TX in 1992.

Being very proud of his Masonic service, he was a Master Mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of all of the York Rite Bodies, a Shiner, and a faithful member of the Eastern Star. He felt honored to have been Past Master of Lodges in Houston, Medina, and Kerrville. He also served the Grand Lodge of Texas as District Deputy Grand Master for the 51st Masonic District in 1995.

Earl was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Kerrville, TX. He was a Life Member of DAV and the American Legion.

Earl is predeceased by his parents.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his wife, Wanda Halmon his 3 children, Robert and wife Joella, Earl, Jr., and Jack his sister, Nelle Gay Palmer aunt, Betty Close 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, along with many loving friends and neighbors.

A time of family visitation and reflection will be held in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028 from 1 1:45 PM on Saturday, April, 6, 2013. At 1:45 PM, Masonic Rites will be offered by the Kerrville Masonic Lodge 697, A.F. A.M. He will be laid to rest at the Santa Anna Cemetery, Santa Anna, TX.

The family suggests that donations in his name be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Ft. Worth, TX or to the Shrine Burn Center of Houston.
