Kerrville Helen Marie Reed, 86, of Kerrville, Texas, went peacefully to rest on May 21, 2008. Helen was born February 14, 1922 in Binger Oklahoma to Henry and Mellie Gabehart, the youngest of 6 children. She grew up on a farm that didnt get electricity until she left to attend Business College.Helen met and married Jack M. Reed, with whom she spent her life. Helen and her sister traveled to San Francisco when both of their husbands joined the ArmyAir Corps later the Air Force. She worked in military procurement while he was he was in Europe for WW II. Helen was a proud military wife and spent many years overseas at his side.Two children were born to them, Helen Lisl Reed McClure and George Perry Reed. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Jack and Helen chose Kerrville as a place to retire in 1970. They became active in the Elks Lodge and had many good friends.Helen was a beautiful woman who always knew how to make people feel welcome and loved. She had the uncanny ability to garden outside in white slacks and never get a speck of dirt on her. Her cookie jar was always full.Helen is survived by her sister, Mable OBriant of Anadarko, Oklahoma her daughter, Helen Lisl McClure and husband William of San Antonio, TX son, George Perry Reed of Kerrville, TX granddaughters, Candice Thompson and husband Travis of Bulverde, Kimberly Long and husband Bill of Harper, TX, Nikki Reed of North Carolina grandson, Joshua Reed of Arkansas several greatgrandchildren and many wonderful friends and neighbors.A visitation will be held on Monday, May 26, 2008 from 6 8 PM, in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral Services are to be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Interment following at 1:45 PM in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX with the Rev. Sherry Strain, Pastor of St. Pauls United Methodist Church officiating.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family respectfully request memorials be made to the Kerrville Elks Lodge, or Vista Care Hospice. The family wises to thank the staff of Plaza on the River, Vista Care Hospice, and to Kerrville Funeral Home for all of their love and support.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home. 830 8955111
