Helen Gray

Kerrville Helen Jane Gray, 93, of Kerrville, went to be with our Savior on May 7, 2011.
Born in Mt. Pleasant, PA on November 26, 1917, she was the daughter of Shelly Moran and Marie Milliron. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Everett a son, William Shelly Gray and a sister, Ethel Tuttle.

Helen attended Hickory Vocational High school in Hickory, PA and Penn Commercial College in Washington, PA. She and husband William, spent their first years of marriage in Washington, PA, where Duane and an older brother Bill were born. The family moved to Whittier, CA in 1953. Helens first job was secretary to a cardiologist. She spent the balance of her career working in Whittier Union High, now California High. Helen started in the nurses office and retired as secretary to the vice principal.

Helen and Bill retired to Chino, CA where Helen volunteered with the Chino Auxiliary for 26 years serving in many capacities. Helen moved to Kerrville in 2004 and resided at Plaza on the River.

Her purpose in life was to get a smile from everybody near her. She loved to travel. She and Bill took one year after retirement to travel with other family members in a caravan to Alaska.

Helen will be missed by both her family and her many friends.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Duane and his wife, Helen, daughterinlaw, Vonnay Brook and her husband Don, her sister Evelyn and husband, Jay McCarrell of Eightyfour, PA, her grandchildren, Jeff Brook and his wife Denise, Las Vegas, NV, Mike Gray and wife Lisa, Brownwood, TX and numerous great grandchildren and four greatgreat grandchildren, as well as many friends.

There will be no local services held. Interment will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 1PM with Jay McCarrell, her nephew, officiating.
