Boerne Harry H. Hank Hilburn, Jr, of Kerrville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, April 28, 2010. Born in Ft. Worth, Texas on February 10, 1920, he was the son of Harry H. Hilburn, Sr. and Beatrice Spriegel Hilburn.
Hank served in the US Navy from 19421945 aboard the Navy destroyer, USS Osborne Ingram. He worked for the VA Hospital in Kerrville for 35 years as Chief Procurement Officer, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to all he met. He loved caring for his goats and sheep in his later years and was a generous man to all.
He was predeceased by his sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Alice Mae Kott Hilburn in 2001, his parents, Harry H. Hilburn, Sr. and Beatrice Spriegel Hilburn Moore, stepfather J.I. Moore, brother Norman Lee Hilburn, Sr and sisterinlaw Ruby Kott Hopf and husband, Glenn Hopf.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews, Norman Lee Hilburn, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, and their children, Kasie, Keri and Nathan, of Houston, Susan Rybinck of Boerne, Margie Poeske of Denver, Bette Yost and husband, Clyde, and their children, Mike Tracey and Greg Brittney, of Boerne, Alice Ann Conant and husband, Ron, and their children, Josh, Will and Matthew, of Boerne, David Poeske and wife, Krys, and their children, Jason Lauren, Heather and Kyle, of Boerne, five great, great nieces and a sisterinlaw, Viola Kott Poeske and her husband, Al, of Boerne.
ation will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 68 PM.
A celebration of his life will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Kerrville, on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Committal services will follow at Garden of Memories, Kerrville.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund, 624 Barnett St, Kerrville, TX 78028.
