Kerrville Harold Henry Widmann passed away at his residence in Kerrville on Sunday, February 1, 2004. Born in Wisconsin on December 25, 1909, he grew up in Marshfield but as an adventurous young man he headed west. An avid horseman, Mr. Widmann found Texas and a young woman named Berta Mae to his liking. It was 1929 and he gained employment at the Telephone Company in Dallas.Mr. Widmann served in the First Squadron of the 124th Cavalry, stationed at Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells, Texas. On May 8, 1932 he married Berta Mae Chambers where they made their home for 70 years in Dallas. Mr. Widmann retired from Southwestern Bell in 1973. He was a member of the Texas Pride Telephone Pioneers. In 1931 he was raised a Master Mason at the A.C. Garrett Masonic Lodge in Dallas and was honored in 2001 for 70 years of service. He was a member of the White Rock Methodist Church in Dallas for over 50 years. In 2001 he and Berta Mae moved to Kerrville to be closer to family. Harold Henry Widmann enjoyed music, dancing, the tunes of Gershwin and Berlin, reading the Bible, major league baseball, being in the country, friendship, and most of all, being with Berta Mae and their family.Preceded in death by daughters Christina Widmann, Petie Driver, Anne Rosser, and soninlaw Boyd Driver.He is survived by his wife, Berta Mae Widmann daughter and soninlaw, Mary Elizabeth and Mel Goldman, soninlaw, Larry Rosser grandchildren, Phyllis Dowdy, Kerri Sandefur, Chip Driver, Gary Goldman, Elizabeth McLemore, Brian Goldman, Adam Driver, and Laura Rosser nine greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandchild along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.Rev. Warren Hornung of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville will conduct services in the Chapel at Kerrville Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 11 AM. Masonic graveside services will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, also in Kerrville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Texas Masonic Home and School in Fort Worth, Texas.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
