H. Shackelford

H. Earl Shackelford, 77, a resident of Kerrville, TX since 1993, died June 30, 2004 at a local hospital.Mr. Shackelford was born June 23, 1927 in Camden, Arkansas to Charles P. and Mattie G. Dickerson Shackelford. He was a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Embattle AM226 in the Pacific. Before moving to Kerrville in 1993, he worked for the City of Houston for 12 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of San Pablo Trinity Presbyterian Church in Houston and was a former Elder of that church. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville, served as a Deacon, and was very active in many church activities.He married Alejandrina Navas L. on August 9, 1981 in Houston. She survives him along with a sister, Martha Brock of Langhorne, Pennsylvania two nephews, John Blankenship of Morrisville, Pennsylvania and Dave Brock of Austin, Texas a niece, Linda McDaniel of Florissant, Missouri and two great nephews. A sister, Kathryn G. McPearson preceded him in death.Memorial services will be held 3:00PM, Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rob Lohmeyer and Rev. Manny Douglass officiating.Memorials may be made to the Organ Fund at the First Presbyterian Church, 800 Jefferson St., Kerrville, Texas 78028.
