Guy Louis Smith, 97, of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Smith was born in LaGrange, GA., on September 23, 1904. He graduated from Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas and received a LLB degree from the University of Texas in June 1927. Other than a brief practice of law in Marfa, Texas, he spent his entire career with the Maryland Casualty Company. His work took him to many locations, mainly out of Texas. On retirement in 1971, he returned to Texas and lived in Kerrville for the remanider of his life. Mr. Smith was a member of the Texas and Oklahoma Bar Associations, Kerrville Bar Association and Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served as ruling elder of First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville and was, for many years, its treasurer. He, with his wife, Ruth, traveled extensively, often by freighter, to all parts of the world. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, gardening and bridge.He is survived by his wife, Ruth Irvin Smith, Ameripark in Kerrville two sons H. Irvin Smith and Louis E. Smith of Houston four grandchildren, Paul Smith and Amy Smith Valentine of Austin, Matthew Smith of Robbinsdale, Minn., and Andrew Smith of Houston and by one greatgranddaughter, Sara Nicole Valentine of Ausitn. He also is survived by three nephews and one niece. Private services will be held at a later date.Services are under the direction of Kerrville Funeral Home .
