KERRVILLE- Guy Melvin Penick, 65, of Kerrville passed from this life on Monday, April 4, 2016, in Kerrville at a local hospital. Guy was born in Uvalde, TX on November 26, 1950.
Guy was a monster man linebacker when he played football back in his younger years. He enlisted in United States Marine Corps and did two tours in Vietnam before retiring from the military as a Staff Sergeant. After his service in the military, he worked at the Volunteer Fire Department, and also worked as a Sergeant Deputy Sheriff. Guy owned his own plumbing business for thirteen years before retiring as a plumber from Kneese Plumbing. Guy was a jack of all trades that could do and fix anything. To his family he was the strongest man they had ever known. He was a loving and gentle father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his family very much, and he was proud to serve his country.
He is proceeded in death by his daughter, Tammy Penick; mother, Meldene Dene McDonald; sister, Brenda; uncle, Gus, and nephew Joe Highsmith.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his son Harry Penick; daughter, Tanya Castro; grandkids, Heather Penick, Christian Penick, Octavia Penick, Wrenn Penick, Rebecca Penick, Kiersten Castro, Kyra Castro, Drayvin Castro; great-grandkids, Christian Penick Jr., Laved Penick, Tuirean Penick, Xahlaya Penick; siblings, Jay and wife, Cathy Mcgown, Linda Highsmith, Roxy Ender, and their kids; along with a host of loving friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2PM, Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028.
Floral Contributions can be forwarded to Kerrville Funeral Home on the day of the service.
