Greg Taylor

LUBBOCK - Gregory Neil Taylor, 53, of Smyer, TX passed from this life on July 5, 2015 at a local hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Greg was born October 10, 1961 in Alamogordo, NM to Roy and JoAnn Nelson.

Greg was raised in Smyer, TX and graduated from Smyer High School. On October 6, 1989 he married Karen McGrew in Lubbock, TX. Greg retired as a millwright after working many years in the surrounding areas. In his spare time, he loved going to the lake and "fishin". During the football season, you could always find him cheering on the University of Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys. Greg was a great man that had many friends and a large extended family that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Nelson.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife of 25 years, Karen Taylor; sons, Tyler Cooper, Chase Taylor; daughter, Laynie Taylor; mother, JoAnn Nelson and sister, Stephanie Matheny.

A visitation and time of reflection will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock, TX.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Smyer High School Auditorium, 401 Lincoln Street, Smyer, TX with Pastor E.G. Lambright officiating. Interment will follow at Smyer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Greg's name to the Smyer Senior Citizens Center.

The family requests that all flowers be delivered to Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd St., Lubbock, TX on the day of the visitation.
