God saw her getting tired, a cure not meant to be, so He put His arms around her and whispered,quot Come with Mequot

And so it was on Thursday January 28, 2010, at River Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center that our beloved mother Grace Bader Mayo, went to her heavenly home. There to spend eternity with Jesus and many relatives and friends. Most recently, in 1982 her beloved granddaughter Carol Anne Blanchard, preceded her . In 1974, her husband, Major General Paul A. Mayo went to be with the Lord after a brilliant career in the United States Army.

Grace was born in Isleta Texas on August 5, 1915. The family moved to San Antonio where she was a member of the first graduating class of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1932. She later married Paul Mayo, a recent graduate of West Point, Class of 1931. They were stationed in various locations throughout the United States and Panama.

Grace was a devout Christian and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a Discussion Leader for Bible Study Fellowship for eight years. She later was very involved with the Lets Have a Radio Ministry in San Antonio, under the direction of Dorothy Mae Waldon.

Grace is survived by daughters Beverly Blanchard and husband David of Kerrville, TX. Barbara Walton and husband Kent of El Dorado, California. Also surviving are grandson, Steve Blanchard and wife Nancy and children Christopher and Melissa of Kerrville, granddaughter Karen Brougham and husband Doug and son, Austin of Arlington, TX, granddaughter Michelle of Capitola, California and daughter Shiloh and husband Chris and daughter Trinity of Capitola. Grace is also survived by Eldon M. Grupp of Sunnyvale, California, an exsoninlaw who she loved and admired.

A final farewell service will be held on Friday February 5, 2010 at 9:30AM at the Main Chapel at Kerrville Funeral Home. Pastor Sam Ligon will be officiating and interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 1:30PM.

The family would like to give special thanks to River Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center and Peterson Hospice.
