Gladys Lorine Jeter, age 82, of Kerrville went to be with Jesus, our Lord on Wednesday, September 18, 2002. She was born to Wilbern G. Fanning and Amanda E. Carter Fanning in Honey Grove, Texas on January 27, 1920. The Fanning family moved to Kerrville in 1927. Gladys married Sidney Steel Jeter in 1937 here in Kerrville and they went on to own and operate an insurance agency for many years and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church here in Kerrville.Gladys was a house wife most of her life except for helping her husband at the insurance agency and during WWII. During the war, she went to work for the telephone company as an operator. Gladys loved to cook and bake and entertain. When she would throw a party or at family holiday gatherings or hosting her bridge club, she was the ultimate hostess making sure that your every need was met. Gladys was a true friend. She made sure that on special occasions or birthdays a card or a gift was sent or she would bake something and deliver it. She had a gift for making people feel loved.Gladys was very proud of her Texas heritage. Even more so, she was proud to be from Kerrville. Gladys loved to shop and loved even more to take her family on big shopping trips to Schreiners Department Store.The Jeters were not only blessed with a beautiful daughter, but later in life they were blessed with three lovely granddaughters. They purchased a lake house in Kingsland and made sure it was outfitted so there family could spend many funfilled days skiing, boating, fishing, and just enjoying life.Mrs. Jeter is survived by a daughter, Aloha Wier and her husband Freddie of Spring, TX three granddaughters, Mandy Nesbit and husband James of Spring, TX, Laurie Worland and husband Pat of Hammond, IN, Melody Turner and husband Max of Spring, TX eight greatgrandchildren, Jenny Nesbit, Wesley Nesbit, Max Earl Turner, Lauren Sydney Turner, Jackson Frederick Turner, Tabitha Worland, Jenny Worland and Joey Worland as well as a host of special friends.A public visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, September 20, 2002 from 6 8 p.m. at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.Donations in her memory may be made to the National Coalition for PKU Allied Disorders, P.O.
