Geralyn (Geri) Thompson, 78, of Kerrville, TX went to be with her lord on Saturday January 21, 2017 at a local care facility surrounded by her family.
Geri was born November 25, 1938 to Jim R. Thompson and Jewel O. (Brown) Thompson in Conroe, TX. Geri attended Refugio High School in Refugio, TX where she graduated in 1957. Upon graduation she married Robert M. Johnson in February of 1958 and later in life married Rodger D. Goodall, Sr. in 1988.
She was a member of the Future Homemakers of America and sang in the choir. Later in life she attended Business College in Kerrville, TX. Geri has resided in California and Nevada before relocating back to Texas in 1968. Geri had several jobs during her lifetime, a stay at home mom, waitress at her parents café in Kerrville (Thompson Café) and she even followed in her mother's footsteps by becoming a nurse's aid working at Alpine Terrace, Edgewater Care Center, Hilltop Village and Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital.
Geri was an active member of each church she attended throughout her life. She taught Sunday school and girls youth group, R.A.'s. Geri's love of missionaries led her to become a missionary out of Sunrise Baptist Church visiting the sick and homebound members of her church on a weekly basis. She was an active member of Sunrise Baptist Church and for the last two years attended Saturday services provided by Doc Casswell and team (Sunrise Baptist Church), Hilltop Village Chapel.
Geri is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Jewel Thompson; brother, Jimmy D. Thompson; husbands, Robert M. Johnson and Rodger D. Goodall Sr.; son, Jimmy L. Johnson; daughter-in-law, Sherri Johnson; granddaughter, Megan K. Johnson; daughter, Carla (Goodall) Suggs and nephew, Kevin D. Thompson
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her daughter, Valerie (Johnson) Rosen and husband Marty of Kerrville, TX, Karen Johnson of Kerrville, TX; sons, Roger Goodall Jr. of Austin, TX, Shawn Goodall of Rockport, TX; sister- law, Jan Thompson of Kerrville, TX along with fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Sunrise Baptist Church with Rev. Mel Harding officiating.
Another Memorial Service will be held at Hilltop Village on Friday February 3, 2017 at 11AM with Rev. Doc Casswell officiating.
In lieu of floral contributions the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Peterson Hospice or Hilltop Village.
