Geraldine S. Tomes, 77, of Kerrville, Texas passed away peacefully on December 13, 2006 at a local hospital.Geraldine was born on July 14, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents, Edgar and Helen Slonaker. She earned her Bachelors degree at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, and remained a very proud member of the American Association of University Women. She was very active in community theater in Houston and performed at the Country Playhouse. She taught Texas History in Houston for 33 years where she made her students feel like they were a part of the history by her knowledge and excellent teaching skills. Because of her love for the Hill Country and the Guadalupe Rive she moved to Kerrville in the 1990s and joined First United Methodist Church where she became active in the choir and the TwentyFirst Century Sunday School Class. Geraldine was an avid reader and was a member of the local book club, was an expert at shopping and in antiques. She had memberships with the Order of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Ladies Club. Geraldine was a world traveler and had fun in her retirement going many places and seeing many sights. She was a wonderful and friendly lady who will be missed by her many friends and family.She was preceded in death by her parents.She is survived by three daughters, Val Reissig and husband Lee of Boerne, Kim Dietz and husband Richard of San Antonio, and Trisha Michael of Snohomis, Washington grandchildren, Jay and wife Jami Lauren and husband Brian Kyle, Tyler, Travis, and Colin and greatgrandchild, Parker.Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville with Rev.
