George Sowa

Kerrville George Patrick Sowa, 69, of Kerrville, passed from this life at a local hospital on August 3, 2011.

Born in Sinton, TX on August 11, 1941, he was the son of George A and Mary Gower Sowa.

A graduate of W.B. Ray High School, Mr. Sowa served in the US Army and spent time in Hokkaido, Japan.

A history buff, Mr. Sowa could spend hours reading and talking about history to anyone that would show an interest. He enjoyed sharing this knowledge with others.

His career followed his service to his country, working in Houston, Corpus Christi and Kingsville, where he completed his career as a Systems Analyst for HoeschtCelanese, retiring in 2005.

He and his wife retired to Kerrville, TX in 2005, coming here from Kingsville, TX.

He is predeceased by his parents.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Karen Cook Sowa of Kerrville his son, Paul Sowa of Hawaii a stepdaughter, Loey Hargrove of Portland, OR three sisters, Nancy Koenig of La Grange, TX, Diane Greene of Houston, TX and Cheryl Mahlke of Corpus Christi two brothers, Harold Sowa of La Vernia, TX and John Sowa of Houston two uncles, William quotBillquot Ellison of Houston and C.B. Bitterly of San Antonio four aunts, Dorthy Thompson of Corpus Christi, Lois Ellison of Houston, Mary OToole of Blanco and Leatrice Mertens of Alice, TX and many nieces and nephews.

ation will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 1011AM.

A celebration of his life will follow the visitation at 11AM, August 8, 2011 at Kerrville Funeral Home. Committal services will be held at Garden of Memories, Kerrville.
