Kerrville Memorial Services for Gayly Milling Gardner, who died November 2, 2007, will be held at 11 AM on November 17, 2007 at St. Peters Episcopal Church with the Rev. Thomas Murray officiating. A coffee reception will follow at the church.Gayly was born November 6, 1923 in Hampton, Virginia and lived at various Army posts until she moved to Waco, Texas at the age of ten. She graduated from Our Lady of the Lake High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1940. She then attended National Park Junior College in Washington, D.C. and the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.Gayly married Joseph Stephen Gardner in Waco, Texas on February 10, 1945. Since he was in the United States Marine Corps they lived at various places until his retirement in June 1962. They then located in Mexico, Missouri for seventeen years. They moved to Kerrville, Texas from Missouri in 1979.Gayly was seen often around town with one of her poodles, which she took to the Veterans Hospital to visit patients. While in Kerrville, Gayly was associated with the Cailloux Humane Society, the Hill Country Preservation Society as a docent at the museum, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association, and Riverhill Womens Club.Gayly was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gardner, in October 2006. Survivors include her two daughters, Gayly Gardner Opem of Chicago, Illinois, and Janie Gardner Hueston of McKinney, Texas, and two grandchildren, Meranda Hueston Puryear of Lubbock, Texas, and Allen L Hueston, Jr. of McKinney, Texas.In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial contributions may be made to the Hill Country Preservation Society P.O.
