Fred Earl Fitts, III, 75, of Kerrville, passed from this life on October 24, 2024 at the hospital in Kerrville, Texas.
Fred was born May 1, 1949 in Auburn, NY to Fred Earl Fitts, Jr. and Minnette Taber Fitts. Fred was brilliant and held several degrees: Master Degree of Administration, Rennselear Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY. Bachelor's of Science Degree Computer Science from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Utica NY. (summa cum laude). Bachelors of Arts from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Utica, NY (summa cum laude) Electrical Technology Associates Degree, Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica, NY (phi theta kappa honor society). Graduate of New Hartford High School, New Hartford, NY. Fred worked as an Engineer throughout his life. He worked as a Contract Engineer for General Electric Undersea System, Syracuse NY, a Senior Engineer, Signal processing, General Electric Aerospace, Utica, NY. Director of Operations DND Teletronics, Utica, NY. Engineer ll at General Dynamics Stromberg-Carlson, Rochester,
He worked in connection with the University of Georgia and other agencies to further advance the Lockheed P-3 Orion, anti-submarine aircraft capabilities. He also holds a patent for an invention created by himself and a co-inventor. Fred was a member of many clubs and organizations throughout his lifetime including: Suny Alumni Association, the Rensselaer Association of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Boston Computer Society, and Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity, to name a few.
Fred was a lover of music such as “The Doors” and “Country Joe and The Fish.” Beyond his academic accomplishments, Fred will be remembered for his loud joyful laughter, love of cats, love of family, being a great chess player and love of Greek food. He was a kind person who always looked for a day of peace. May he have that peace in the heavens above.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Richard Sousa and Garret Pelton.
Those left to honor his memory include three brothers, William Fitts and Nadine, Warren Fitts and Patsy, David Fitts; two sisters, Corinne Sousa, Darlene Pelton Kildow and Michael; many nieces, nephews, godson, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a very special dear friend, Carol Bradbury.
Fred had many special caretakers who were like family to him, the doctors and nurses and so many others who loved and cared for Fred over the years. Thank you to all of the doctors and hospital staff and Hospice workers for all the kindness and compassion you have given Fred.
Gone, but will never be forgotten.
