Franklin Darrell Steffey, 74, of Fredericksburg, Texas entered into rest on April 15, 2007 at a hospital in Kerrville.Darrell was born March 17, 1933 in Llano, Texas to Otto and Beatrice Steffey. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 19541956 during the Korean War. He married Kay on August 9, 1969 at the University of Texas United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. They lived in California for three years, and Houston for twentyfive years, but were glad to get back the Hill Country where they have been residents for eleven years. Darrell loved nature, and enjoyed watching the birds on his bird feeders, and feeding the deer. He also enjoyed getting outdoors on his scooter and visiting his neighbors. He was a hunting guide when he was able, a woodworker, and a computer enthusiast. Darrell was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Kerrville, and developed the church motto Trust and Go. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Melvin Steffey and sister, Lena Steffey.He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kay Steffey daughter, Rebecca Lynn Waechter of Lake Victor son, Neal Steffey of Burnet son, David Schorn and wife Mavis of Nashville, TN daughter, Terri McCoy and husband Wayland of Houston grandchildren, Joseph Williams and wife Angela of Colorado Springs, Jerry Williams and wife Miranda of Colorado Springs, Kristopher McCoy and wife Kristy of Dallas Adam McCoy of Houston Erin Schorn of Nashville, TN greatgrandchildren, Zachary Williams and Kacia Rain Williams sister, Louise Richter of Marble Falls friends, neighbors, and church family.Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Kerrville with Rev. Arlie Lammers and Rev. Jay Dozier officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Bluffton Cemetery in Tow, Texas.Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 1900 Goat Creek Pkwy. Kerrville, Texas 78028.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
