Frances Virginia Blomquist Summers, 76, of Kerrville, Texas passed away peacefully on June 2, 2005 at a local care facility.Mrs. Summers was born September 7, 1928 in Taylor, Texas to Robert and Lydia Blomquist. At a young age her father taught her to play the piano by ear, and she and her nine siblings were known throughout the region as the Singing Blomquist Family. Frances and two of her sisters even sang on a local Sunday morning radio show. She married Norman Lee Summers on October 17, 1952 in Taylor, Texas. They lived in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, where in every city Frances was active in her church. She took on numerous roles including adult choir, or of youth and childrens choir, and playing on the church softball and volleyball teams. Norman and Frances moved to Kerrville in 1999 and joined the First United Methodist Church where she played the piano between services. Frances played from memory, specializing in the old gospel songs she grew up with. Her life was music which she shared with others at every opportunity.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters, Mildred McDonald, and Lucille Hamilton.She is survived by daughters, Delinda Sterling of Houston, Virginia Summers of Kerrville grandsons, Stephen Michael Sterling of Houston, Andrew Lee Sterling of Houston soninlaw, Michael Ray Sterling of Houston and brothers and sisters, Dorothy Johnson of New Braunfels, Esther Rowland, Helen Coupland, Milton Blomquist, Robert Blomquist, Jr., and Franklin Blomquist, all of Taylor, and Elizabeth Powers of North Zulch and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 3:30PM, Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Hornung officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. ation will be 57:00PM, Friday, June 3, 2005 at Kerrville Funeral Home.
