Floy Jean Adkisson, 81, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006, and has gone to be with Lord. She was born in Thorp Springs, Texas, on December 9, 1924, to Walton Parker Hale and Mary Vick Hale. She attended Texas Womens University, in Denton, Texas, and obtained her teaching certificate years later. She taught schools in Petersburg, Texas and DeSoto, Texas as a highschool business teacher until her retirement. She moved to Kerrville several years ago, where she was active with genealogy and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society Colonial Dames, United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Texas First Families. Survivors include her son and daughterinlaw, Paul and Judy Haines, of Claremore, Oklahoma, her daughter Mary Trippet Moore and soninlaw John Moore, of Pflugerville, Texas, daughter Martha Haines, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her brother and his wife, Bill and Carolyn Hale, of Floydada, Texas. She had 10 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren, and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Adkisson, both parents, Walton and Mary Hale, and one granddaughter, Rebecca Haines.She was a member of Grace Bible Chapel and loved reading and playing card games with her family and friends.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25th, at Kerrville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories in Kerrville, Texas. Viewing will be 10:00 a.m. prior to service.Special thanks to the Doctors and Staff at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville, Texas for their exceptional care of our Mother.Contributions may be made in her memory either to the American Cancer Society or Grace Bible Chapel in Kerrville, Texas.
