Kerrville Florence Jean Gregory Thomson passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010, in Kerrville, Texas. She was born on September 2, 1927 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Robert Henry Gregory and Mabel Nancy Honea.
Florence or quotFloquot as she was affectionately called graduated from Austin High School, Austin, Texas in May 1947, where she was a member of several social clubs and was a Majorette with the Austin High School band. Following graduation from high school, Flo went to work for American National Bank of Austin. While working there, she met her future husband, David Lewis Thomson, Jr. and they were married on January 30, 1949. They lived in Austin, Texas until 1966 when David took a position with Maryland Casualty Co. in Houston, Texas. While in Houston, Flo worked for Spring Branch Bank, Allied Bank, Republic Bank and El Paso Natural Gas Co. She was a devoted, caring and loving wife and a mother of three children. Flo was also a very creative person who excelled at sewing, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, and designing and making various crafts. She and her husband David retired to Kerrville, Texas in 1994. Before Davids passing in March 2010, they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her three children, Diana Lynne Thomson Denton, of Spring, Texas David Lewis Thomson, III of Kerrville, Texas and Dan Gregory Thomson of Kerrville, Texas her brotherinlaw, William Cass Thomson, Sr. of Farmington, New Mexico her two grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Denton of Austin, Texas and Ryan Wesley Denton of Spring, Texas and her five nieces and nephews: Jan Blankennagel R. Greg Blankennagel Luanne Thomson Snedaker William Cass Thomson, Jr. and Anita Pollard Watson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mabel Gregory, and her sisters, Mildred Gregory Monk and Kay Gregory Blankennagel.
A private family graveside service will be held at CookWalden Capital Parks Cemetery in Austin, Texas on Monday, December 20, 2010, at 11:00 AM.
The Thomson family would like to especially thank Flos caregivers at Kerrvilles Plaza on the River Nursing Home, her treating physician, Dr. James Young, and Gene Allen, Director at Kerrville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Association.
