Evie Kolb

Evie Vonceil Sumerlin Kolb was born to Nora and Al Sumerlin in Rotan, Texas on October 29, 1927 and died on July 25, 2013 at age 85. She graduated from Rotan High School and on January 17, 1946 she married the love of her life, Alva Kolb Jr. That marriage was an exemplary romance that showed everyone how true love endures and grows. They had 64 beautiful years together.

She was preceded in death by her husband parents as well as her brother Billie Sumerlin brother Al Dee Sumerlin sister, Norene Carter sister, Alvis Dorsey.

She is survived by daughter, Sue Mitchell and husband Dean Mitchell of Leaky daughter, Stacey Pierce and husband Carlton Pierce of Conroe granddaughter, Cherri Mitchell Robbins and husband Tim Robbins of Kerrville granddaughter, Karma Mitchell and husband Ric Hubbard of San Marcos grandson, Mitch Mitchell and wife Audrey Mitchell of Kerrville granddaughter, Jenna Pierce and husband Brian Nacol of Spring granddaughter, Cassie House and husband Steve House of Conroe granddaughter, Meghan Pierce and fianc Allen Walters of Spring 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews for whom she was an important role model and support and many friends.

Vonceil moved to Pasadena in 1955 where she and Al raised their daughters and she retired from ChampionInternational Paper. After retirement, they moved to Frankston, Texas where they had 25 happy years prior to moving to Kerrville in 2003.

The family requests memorial donations to Hill Country Youth Ranch or Peterson Hospice.

The family would like to give special thanks to friend Helen Connell who always kept Mama beautiful and looking her her long time caregivers, Elvira Ramirez and Janie Morales who have not only provided excellent care but were her loving friends as well. Also, special thanks to Peterson Hospice as well as the end caregivers, Elvira Ramirez, Olga and LeeAnn Garcia, and Alma Moreno who tenderly attended to her last needs.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Kerrville Funeral Home.
