Evelyn Smith Perkins, 89 of Ingram, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 6,2022 in Kerrville, Texas. She was born on August 8,1932 in Rocksprings, Texas to George and Susie Perkins.
Evelyn grew up on a ranch in the Hackberry-Rocksprings area with her two brothers and two sisters. On April 18,1954 she married Leslie H. Smith in Big Lake, Texas. Evelyn and Leslie had two sons and one daughter.
She retired from the Veterans Administration. Evelyn was a worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and belonged to the Houston-Ransford Chapter #135. She loved to travel, play the piano, gardening and going to church. She also loved being with her family and friends.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Leslie H. Smith; son, Stephen W. Smith; parents, George and Susie Perkins; brothers, Leo I. Perkins and Howard G. Perkins and sisters, Nelva Reed and Lillian Perkins.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her sister, Gwendolyn Carlow; daughter, Sarah Caye Smith; son, Howard Mark Smith; adopted children, Steve Kiefer, Tammy Modgling and Christian McEntrye; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to Peterson Hospice, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the charity one’s choice.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Andrea, Cat, Heather and all the employees of New Haven, Peterson Hospice and Pastor Don McElroy of First Baptist Church of Kerrville.
Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Friday, July 15,2022 at Kerrville Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will take place at 10AM on Saturday, July 16,2022 at Kerrville Funeral Home with burial to follow Garden of Memories Cemetery.
