Evelyn Amanda Marshall Curry, 89, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at a local nursing home after treatment for an extended illness.Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Charlotte L. Curry, and by her brother Sam W. Marshall of Big Bear Lake, California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Mrs. Curry was born in Quanah, TX on December 22, 1914, to Willard Chamberlain Marshall and Minnie Ola Lee Marshall. She spent much of her youth in Kerrville, where she graduated from Tivy High School in 1932.Upon graduation she attended business school in San Antonio, and obtained employment at the Fort Sam Houston Depot where she met Ivan Meade Curry. The two were married on December 30, 1946 and enjoyed 35 years together. During these years Evelyn raised their daughter Charlotte, and worked alongside her husband in his real estate business. A creative individual and a member of the Houston Conservative Arts Association, her talent was evident in the many beautiful canvases she painted. She was also a cooking enthusiast, who loved to share good times and good food with her friends and family.In 1981 she was preceded in death by her husband, and afterward, in 1983 she returned to Kerrville, where she resided for the past 21 years. During that time, she attended the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, and was also predeceased by her sister, Kathlyn Louise Klein.Evelyn will be recalled by those who knew her for her hearty laugh, her bright eyes, and her optimistic spirit. Always a determined and enthusiastic woman, her zest for life and her drive to cheer those around her, was with her until the end.Mrs. Curry will be remembered at a graveside service 10:00AM, Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at Glen Rest Cemetery, next to Schreiner University. Prior to the graveside services on Wednesday, visitors who wish to pay their respects may do so on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 from 68:00PM at Kerrville Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name, to the American Cancer Society.
