KERRVIILE- Born August 3, 1925, in Shelbyville, Indiana, Evelyn Butler died at her home in Kerrville, Texas on Sunday November 15, 2015. She was 90 years young.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Through the years, Evelyn was most proud of helping her husband of 64 years, Bill Butler, grow several businesses and even "handled all the books", as she liked to say. In her retirement years, Evelyn loved the scenic views of Arizona and the hill country of Texas, making that majestic landscape her home for many years. Also, Evelyn enjoyed traveling the country with Bill attending car shows and showing off their 1966 blue Chevy Corvette. One of the highlights of her trips was stops to local antique malls where she worked to build her antique collection. Lastly, Evelyn loved to cook. And if you ask her children and grandchildren what they'll miss the most, and they'll likely say her fudge. Evelyn was known for her chocolate and peanut butter fudge made fresh for every holiday and visit.
Evelyn is survived by her children Dave Butler and wife Connie, Nanci Gaddy and husband Scott, grandchildren Michael Rivault and wife Deborah, Mabe Barr and husband Adam, Kate Cook and husband Ross, Meredith English and husband Matt, and Lizzie Broussard and husband Randy, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Bill Butler, parents Floyd Mabe and Irene Mabe, siblings Merle Wasson and Fred Bellman.
Donations can be made in her name to Peterson Hospice in Kerrville, Texas or an animal shelter of your choice.
