Evelyn Baines

Kerrville Evelyn Riley Baines Meme to her family Kerrville friends went home to be with her heavenly Father, Friday evening, February 15, 2008. Born to Ernest Esther Riley on March 31, 1913 in Manchester, New Hampshire, she worked in the packing room of the J. F. McEllwen Shoe Factory in Manchester from the time she was 16 years of age until she retired at the young age of 65 as packing room supervisor. In 1989, she moved to Kerrville to be close to her eldest daughter, Mary, where she lived independently until November of 2007 with her two dogs and two birds. She was a lifelong member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church of Manchester, and during World War II, a proud member of the Thornton Naval Veterans Womens Auxiliary. One of her greatest joys was to play cards with her family and friends and she never turned away an opportunity to dance or hug a good looking fellow. Anyone who knew her was charmed by her wit and great sense of humor, for Meme never met a stranger.Mrs. Baines is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sidney in 1983 after 49 years of marriage, and in 1989 by her granddaughter, Patricia Olden of Kerrville. She is survived by her three children, Mary and husband Bill Olden of Kerrville, TX, Sidney and wife Sandy Baines of Hooksett, NH, Nancy and husband Ronnie Soucy of Manchester, NH fourteen grandchildren, twentyfour greatgrandchildren, and most recently a greatgreatgranddaughter, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.Memorial Services are pending in Manchester, NH, and a private family celebration of her life will be held in Kerrville. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028 or to the charity of ones choice.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
