Ethel Woodward

Kerrville Ethel Mae Day Woodward, 96, passed from this life on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at a local health care facility.

Born March 10, 1914, in Floyd, TX, to Ellis Marvin Day and Ethel Ellen Day, she had been a resident of Kerrville for many years.

She married Charles Staples Woodward, November 3, 1948 in Weslaco, Texas. Three children, Elaine, Day and Warren were born of that union.

Ethel Mae was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Weslaco Texas and at St. Pauls Methodist Church in Kerrville until failing sight forced her to reduce her involvement. Mom loved sewing. Even after her eye sight had started failing, she still volunteered by ironing quilt patches for the ladies who made the quilts for the BoysGirls Home in Kerrville. First and foremost though was her family. She was dedicated to her family, immediate and extended. She walked in the light. It was also this light that led her home. May she rest in peace.

Ethel Mae Day was preceeded in death by her parents, Ellis Marvin and Ethel Ellen Day, her husband Charles, son Day Woodward and siblings, sisters Juanita Curtis, Ruth Parnell and brothers, Paul, Kelly and Marvin Day.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her sister, Jo Merle Day of Kerrville Texas and two sistersinlaw, Ruby Day of Baytown and Carole Day of Kerrville. She leaves behind her remaining children Elaine Rocholl, and Warren Woodward, as well as 6 grandchildren, Madeleine Woodward, Danny Summer, and Sabra Woodward and, Nancy and Peter Rocholl, and several nieces and nephews Pam Wilson, Sandy Schwalbe, Paula Ellis, John Day, Brenda Scharton, Barbara Burgamy, Beverly Fulkes and John Day.
