Ethel Chickie King went to be with the Lord, her beloved son Bill, and husband Caroll Friday night, February 17, 2006. At the time of her death she was residing in Parsons House Care Center.Chickie was born in Concho County to rancher W.G. and Minnie Susan Currie and attended schools in Paint Rock. She married Carroll King and they resided in Austin before moving to Kerrville in the 1940s. Their son Bill was born in 1950. Both Bill and Carroll preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and faithfully watched the Sunday morning services on television. The family especially appreciates the loving care given by the Deacon ministry of the church. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed being with people.She is survived by her sister, Grace Malone of Dallas sisterinlaw, Mary Jim Currie of Paint Rock nieces, Melinda Malone of Dallas, Carolyn Slaughter and husband Danny of Ballinger, Susan Hazelbaker and husband Brian of Laguna Nigel, California, Karolyn Jones of Austin, Barbara Thielepate of Austin two nephews, Dr. David Currie and wife Loretta of San Angelo and Jimmy Currie of Laguna Nigel, California greatnieces and greatnephews, Lance Currie, Chad Currie, Kimberly Dreschsler, Craig Slaughter, Cassie Hazelbaker two greatgreatnephews, Jack and Luke Dreschler and her long term care givers, Irma Hyde and Margie Tremper.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with interment immediately following in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Officiating will be her nephew, Dr. David Currie and her pastor, Dr. John Petty. ation will be 67:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Kerrville Funeral Home.
