Ethel Dorsey

Kerrville Ethel Mae Adams Dorsey, 73, of Kerrville, TX passed from this life on Tuesday, April 8, 2009 in a local care center.

She was born March 23, 1936 to the parentage of Namon and Louisa Bedford Adams in Hallettsville, Lavaca County Texas. The family moved to Kerrville in 1945.

Ethel attended Doyle High School and later became a talented cook and enjoyed cooking favorite dishes for family, friends, patients and loved ones.

During her years of employment she cooked at 5 Points Cafeacute, Kerrville VA Medical Center, Leslie Place Personal Care, Kerrville Independent School District and The Haven Care Center. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and on many occasions worked with the kitchen committee. Ethel loved to have fun and make people laugh. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies of Distinction and she would joyously select the monthly place of meeting until her health failed.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter, Patricia Dorsey of Los Angeles, CA sister, Minnie Mae Farr of Kerrville, TX brother, Raymond Adams and wife Glenda of Los Angeles, CA grandson, Taki Fletcher of Los Angeles, CA 3 great grandchildren, Zoe, Zareya, and Jacob Fletcher all of Los Angeles, CA along with many loving friends, neighbors, and church family that will greatly miss her smiling face. Active Pallbearers will be Marcus Collazo, R.B. Cubit, Kevin David, David Farr, Mark Shaw, and Orlanda Triplett. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Adams, Taki Fletcher, Michael Green, Calvin Jordan, Gene Ritchie, Mt. Olive Deacons, and Red Hat Ladies of Distinction.

ation will be held from 6 8 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Kerrville Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, April 17, 2009 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Kerrville, TX with the Rev. Alvin Farr of First Community Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, CA. In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
