Esther Smith

Kerrville Esther Schellhase Smith, 93, of Round Rock, Texas and formerly of Kerrville, died peacefully at Park Bend Health Center in Austin, Texas on Tuesday, February 17, 2004. Ms. Smith was born on December 9, 1910 in Comfort, Texas to Henry and Sophia Schellhase. Ms. Smith married her husband, Leonard Smith on April 25, 1941. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1993. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Comfort, and was employed by Edgewater Care Center in Kerrville for over 14 years before retiring. Ms. Smith moved to Round Rock to be closer to family in her later years.Ms. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant daughter stepson, David Lee Smith sister, Paulene Tyler and brothers, Chester Schellhase and Roland Schellhase.She is survived by her sisters, Thelma Ploch of Kerrville, and Dovie Braeutigam of Round Rock numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2004 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville, Texas with the Rev. Warren Hornung, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Kerrville, officiating.Honorary Pallbearers to serve will be Dewaine Braeutigam, Calvin Patrick, Carolyn Payton, Mildred Henley, Marlene Karger, Karen Mosmeyer, and Jody Fackelman.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 303682454, the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Ste. 1010, Rockville, MD 20852, or the charity of ones choice.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
