Esther Marie Green left her earthly home on March 10, 2005 in response to Christs words today you will be with me in paradise and believed no one comes to the Father except through me Christ. Esther, age 87, was born September 21, 1917 in Priddy, Texas to Otto and Emma Schuster. She was the oldest of eight children. Her parents instilled in her strong moral values of home and family. Esther was taught to love and to serve her heavenly father. She became the matriarch of her siblings after the death of their mother.Esther married her husband, Curtis Green, on May 25, 1936 in Big Springs, Texas. Their early years were spent in New Mexico and Texas. In 1955 they moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where they worked for the U.S. Army. Fishing was their favorite pastime. They flew and boated to every fishing hole in Alaska over the next 17 years.Retiring in 1972, they returned to Texas and continued their passion for fishing. Each year for the next 13 years they would convoy to Mexico with friends for six weeks of bass fishing. The moved to Kerrville in 1986, when they had a special 50th anniversary celebration at Inn of the Hills. Esther became an active member of the Kerrville community. She was a 15 year member of the Hill Country Youth Ranch Auxiliary, serving three terms as president. She also held offices of president and vice president during her 15 year membership in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Her political beliefs led her to become active in the Republican Women of Kerr County for six years, serving as president for two years. Esther also enjoyed serving her community through membership in the Womens Chamber of Commerce. As an 18 year member of Zion Lutheran Church, she was president of Deborah Circle and also served on various other committees.Surviving Esther are son Curtis Green Jr. and his wife Lyda of Wasilla, Alaska grandson Bradley Green and his wife Dianne of Jackson Tennessee granddaughter Kristie Leaf and her husband Kenneth of Kenai, Alaska grandson Shelton Green of Austin, Texas eight great grandchildren Caleb, Daniel and Victoria Green, and Kelsie, Connor, Noah, Jiabao, and Meijan Leaf sisters: Mildred Marshall and her husband Joe of Fort Worth, Texas, Johanna Wrinkle and her husband Roy of Victoria, Texas brothers Elmer Schuster and his wife AnnaLee of Tucumcari, New Mexico, Otto Schuster and his wife Dora of Portland, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Green, her parents, two sisters and one brother.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, at 10:00 AM at Kerrville Funeral Home with Pastor Douglas McBride officiating. Family graveside services will follow at Priddy, Texas, Zion Cemetery at 2:00 PM.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorials be made to Hill Country Youth Ranch Auxiliary.
