Estabel Carpenter

Estabel Dawson Carpenter, 89, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Hilltop Village Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville, Texas with longtime family friend, Bill Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot.

Mrs. Carpenter was born in Homer, Louisiana on August 30, 1924 to Aubin and Bernice Coleman Dawson. She earned her B.S. degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1944. After graduation she became a caseworker at the Childrens Service Bureau in Shreveport, LA. She retired in 1988 after 28 years of teaching and enriching childrens lives in Bellville, Victoria, Bloomington, Katy and Palestine public schools.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by Malcolm L. Carpenter, Sr., her husband of 48 years in 1994 her son, Malcolm L. Carpenter, Jr., in 1990 and one grandson, Drew A. Slater, in 2008.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy C. Slater and husband Jeff of Alpine, TX one grandson, Lee M. Slater and his wife Kim of New Braunfels and her sister, Mary Aubyn Dawson, of Washington State. Estie will be missed.
